Pardon the pun, but HONOR has also jumped aboard the foldable smartphone bandwagon by taking aim squarely at the flagship segment with the HONOR Magic V. This is the company’s very first 5G foldable flagship smartphone that would definitely cause its rivals to sit up and take notice. Powered by the latest generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, you will find the following hardware specifications to whet your appetite.
- 6.45-inch curved OLED display (folded, 7.9-inch when unfolded)
- 21.3:9 aspect ratio
- Waterdrop hinge
- Up to 120 Hz screen refresh rate with IMAX Enhanced certification
- 12GB RAM
- 256GB/512GB of internal memory
- Quad-camera configuration
- 42MP front-facing camera
- 4,750 mAh battery
- Fast charging supported (66W HONOR SuperCharge, charges up to 50% in 15 minutes)
The HONOR Magic V runs on the HONOR Magic UI 6.0 skin that is based on the latest Android 12 mobile operating system. There is no word on an international release to date, although it will retail for RM6,585 and RM7,240 for the 256GB and 512GB models, respectively (after taking current currency conversion rates into consideration).
Foldable smartphones continue to command a premium and it will take some time before they become affordable enough for the masses, hence making them technological marvels that are more pomp and splendour than a practical, everyday device that the modern day smartphone has become.
